Socomec DIRIS Digiware — Electrical Energy Monitoring for Data Centers

Complete visibility of your electrical system – from energy consumption and electrical loads to power quality and energy efficiency. In real time, from a single system.

In data centers, electricity is one of the largest operating costs, while the reliability of the power supply is critical. Monitoring total energy consumption alone is not enough. It is essential to understand how energy consumption is distributed across electrical panels, branch circuits and individual server racks, which circuits are approaching their overload limits, and where spare capacity is still available.

Socomec DIRIS Digiware provides complete visibility of the data center’s electrical system and brings energy consumption, electrical measurements, power quality and residual current monitoring together in a single system.

What is DIRIS Digiware?

DIRIS Digiware is a modular electrical energy measurement and monitoring system that can be adapted to the size and monitoring requirements of each facility – from a single electrical panel to the entire electrical infrastructure of a data center.

The compact modules, just 18 mm wide, are interconnected via the Digiware bus. The system can be expanded as requirements grow and supports the monitoring of both AC and DC electrical systems.

Benefits of DIRIS Digiware

Complete visibility of energy consumption and electrical loads

Electrical parameters and energy consumption can be monitored from the main data center input down to individual branch circuits and server racks. This provides real-time visibility of load distribution, identifies circuits approaching their overload limits and shows where spare capacity is still available.

Real-time energy efficiency monitoring (PUE)

DIRIS Digiware helps monitor data center energy use and calculate PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness). This makes it possible to assess how much of the data center’s total energy consumption is used by IT equipment and how much is consumed by cooling and other supporting infrastructure.
PUE = E(Tot DC) / E(IT) is automatically available through WEBVIEW-M in accordance with the ISO/IEC 30134-2 standard.

Accurate measurement and cost allocation

High measurement accuracy enables reliable energy monitoring and accurate allocation of consumption between different users. This is particularly important when customers or tenants are billed according to the energy consumption of individual server racks or other equipment.
Class 0.5 accuracy enables precise measurement even on low-load circuits, providing the accuracy required for fair tenant-level billing.

Faster fault detection

The system monitors the status of the electrical distribution system and provides alarms when faults or abnormal conditions occur. This allows operators to respond quickly before a problem develops into a wider disruption or affects customer equipment.
Digiware S VirtualMonitor provides real-time ON/OFF/TRIP circuit breaker status without auxiliary contacts. A time-stamped alarm is generated whenever a circuit breaker opens or closes, and alarm notifications can also be sent by email via SMTPS.

Power quality monitoring

DIRIS Digiware enables monitoring of voltage and current harmonics, voltage dips, voltage swells, interruptions and current unbalance. This helps identify power quality issues that may affect the reliability and service life of UPS systems, servers and other sensitive equipment.

Environmental monitoring

The system can also be used to monitor temperature and humidity. This provides a clearer picture of operating conditions in data rooms and supports the optimisation of cooling and energy use. The IO-20 module collects data from connected temperature and humidity sensors and makes it available alongside electrical measurements.

Why choose DIRIS Digiware?

Modular and compact

The system can be configured according to the specific requirements of each facility and expanded as those requirements evolve. DIRIS Digiware S modules are the width of a single circuit breaker and are mounted directly on the circuit breakers without additional wiring. The modular architecture makes it easy to expand the system step by step.

Fast and easy installation

The modules are connected via the RJ45 Digiware communication bus, reducing the amount of cabling required and enabling automatic device detection. When expanding an existing system, new branch circuits can be added without shutting down the entire system.

Easy integration with existing management systems

The D-50 and D-70 act as Ethernet gateways and support open communication protocols including Modbus TCP, BACnet IP and SNMP without the need to purchase additional licences. This makes it easy to integrate DIRIS Digiware with existing DCIM, BMS and other management systems.

One system – complete visibility

Energy consumption, electrical loads, power quality, residual currents and environmental conditions can all be brought together in a single monitoring solution. The result is greater visibility of the actual condition of the electrical system, more efficient energy use and faster response to abnormal conditions.
